bodywork for your brain and body

Hi, I’m Elley, licensed massage therapist based in Portland, OR. My style blends a variety of modalities including craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, cupping, gua sha, and advanced massage techniques to address headaches, back pain, neck tension, anxiety, and injury recovery.

My bodywork style is uniquely effective because I collaborate with your nervous system rather than forcing change. By detecting subtle signals from your tissues, I create personalized treatments that relieve pain, reduce stress, and promote lasting healing. Clients experiencing chronic pain, tension headaches, TMJ, sciatica, and workplace-related discomfort find significant relief through my methods.

As much as possible, I try to decolonize bodywork. I reject the idea that I am the expert in the room, and I believe each individual has its own inner healing intelligence. Instead of imposing standardized treatments, I serve as a skilled guide helping your system access its natural capacity for recovery and balance. This client-centered approach delivers more sustainable results than conventional massage and teaches clients about their bodies in the process.

I currently practice out of North Portland Wellness Center (Mondays and occasional Wednesdays) and Vida Wellness (Tuesdays). I accept Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield, Moda, and Cigna. Soon I will be able to accept Providence as well.

My approach

craniosacral therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a subtle but impactful style of bodywork that works specifically with your nervous system. Injuries, trauma, and everyday stresses can create restrictions in the bones and soft tissue connected to your nervous system, from the brain down to the sacrum. Using light touch, craniosacral therapy helps release these restrictions, allowing your nervous system to function better. The result is profound nervous system regulation and muscle relaxation.

myofascial release

Myofascial release works with your muscles and fascia, using gentle shortening and lengthening of the tissue to ultimately allow for better ease of movement. Fascia, or connective tissue, is extremely abundant in the body. It’s what fills in the gaps between muscles, bones, tendons, organs, etc. Because of this, unwinding tension in the fascia helps reduce pain and inflammation, allow muscles to move better, and ultimately help the body resolve long standing tension patterns. This is slow, transformative work.

cupping and gua sha

Cupping and gua sha are both Traditional Chinese Medicine practices that help relieve tension in the muscles, break up knots, and improve circulation in the entire body. In my cupping practice I use silicone cups that suction to the tissue, pulling the layers of tissue away from each other. Gua sha uses a metal or stone tool to break up knots and crunchy spots, like in the shoulders for example. Both these tools reduce stagnation in the body and boost its innate healing ability.

Our partnership

My style of bodywork is all about collaboration. I believe you are the expert in your own body, and your body is naturally inclined towards healing. Using my skills and knowledge, I help tune into your system’s signals and symptoms. Together we learn what your body needs and give you the head start you need to feel better.
